Mint Green & Gray Baby Blanket and Hat Project:
This “Baby M Blanket” by Vickie Howell is one of my favorite baby blanket patterns. It has a nice modern look, works up quickly, and has so much room for customization! So I jumped at the chance to make another one with mint green and gray. I had to look around a bit to find a nice light dove gray color. And Caron Simply Soft has a lovely mint green color.
I have also been wanting to try out this free “5 Star Beanie” pattern. The pattern is for a standard ladies size, so I scaled it down a bit for baby size. After you have downloaded the pattern, here are my notes to adjust for newborn size:
For the brim part, chain 7 instead of 13. I did 80 rows.
Once you turn it 90 degrees and start crocheting the body of the hat, the first row is 51 evenly spaced sc.
And then 25 star stitches in the next row, repeat the sc 51 and next row 25 star stitches 3 more times.
Next sc row is decreased from 51 to 41, then the next row is 20 star stitches.
Next sc row is decreased from 41 to 31, then the next row is 15 star stitches.
Next sc row is decreased from 31 to 21, then I followed the last row of the regular pattern and sewed the opening shut.
The original pattern says to sew on a pom pom which I may do, but I haven’t got there yet!
